Robert Ladislas Derr and Teal Gardner - Joint Reception and Artist Talks
Teal Gardner Artist Talk at 6:30 pm. "Bodies of the Mesh" artist will discuss her research into symbiosis and the “expanded individual” in a short talk. Attendees to this event will be able to explore interdependence and interconnection in the form of a participatory snack. Teal Gardner’s exhibition “The Bodies of the Mesh” references philosopher Timothy Morton’s ecological theory which posits that sentient and non-sentient beings on earth are connected in a “mesh,” uniting all things interdependently. Robert Derr Artist Talk at 7:00 pm. The Ohio based performance artist will be in conversation with Boise State University English professor Ralph Clare about his work. Robert Derr’s exhibition “Day in, Day Out” is a 3-channel video installation that considers the individual through the politics of the body in spare, experiential exercises staged in idyllic landscapes that fabricate self-directed escapism.
