United Way of Treasure Valley Hosts Vaping Expert, Dr. Bonnie Halpern-Felsher for Vaping Conversation between Parents and Teens
Boise, Idaho (September 17, 2019)According to the Idaho 2017 Youth Risk Behavior Survey, nearly half of all high school students (41%) have used an electronic vape product at least once in their lifetime.
Dr. Bonnie Halpern-Felsher will present information on e-cigarettes and youth nicotine use to parents and families to engage them in an educational and eye-opening discussion on Monday, September 23rd in the Jordan Ballroom at Boise State University (11700 W. Dr. Halpern-Felsher will speak for 45 minutes, then answer audience questions for the last 15. Teens and parents welcome at this informative discussion.
Dr. Halpern-Felsher is a developmental psychologist whose research has focused on cognitive and psychosocial factors involved in adolescents’ and young adults’ health-related decision-making, perceptions of risk and vulnerability, health communication, and risk behavior. Her research has focused on understanding and reducing health risk behaviors such as tobacco use, alcohol and marijuana use, risky driving, and risky sexual behavior. Her research has been instrumental in changing how providers discuss sexual risk with adolescents and has influenced national policies regulating adolescent and young adult tobacco use.
