Midsummer Fun: Shakespeare's Funniest Comedy on Page and Stage
Instructor: Dr. John Ottenhoff Go beyond the page and behind the stage at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival's upcoming production of Shakespeare’s hilarious comedy Midsummer Night’s Dream. The College of Idaho's John Ottenhoff (Professor of English and VP for Academic Affairs) will uncover literary and performance aspects of the play and provide a preview of how it's all put together in the final days before the production’s opening. Two class sessions at the spectacular Idaho Shakespeare Festival amphitheater will include discussions about “decoding” Shakespeare (especially the jokes!), getting a feel for Shakespearean language, and insight into performance approaches to the play. Participants will hear from the ISF production team about how they approached this unique comedy and watch some of the final rehearsals of the show in the theatre. In addition, participants receive a generous discount toward a ticket for the ISF production of Midsummer Night’s Dream on Wednesday August 9th. Join us for merriment, insight, and summer fun at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival this summer.
