Understanding the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act for Individuals and Small Businesses
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) may have become law on December 22, 2017, but most of us are still trying to figure out how we will be affected on the personal and small business sides. Guest presenter Ms. Jodi Whittaker, CPA and owner of Whittaker & Associates, Inc., will shed light on the tax law changes and implications for individuals and business owners so you won’t be making decisions in the dark. This workshop will cover Tax Cuts and Jobs Acts key provisions for: • Individuals: filing status, new tax brackets, changes in deductions, strategies for tax planning • Businesses: entity structure, certain service businesses, business income, changes in deductions About the Presenter: Ms. Jodi Whittaker is a Certified Public Accountant and owner of Whittaker & Associates, Inc. An alumna of Deloitte, Jodi has over 30 years of experience in financial accounting and taxation. Jodi is a senior level executive with extensive hands-on experience in management, business leadership and working with boards of directors, banks, and attorneys. She strives to create systems and processes for businesses that can improve efficiency and profitability to grow enterprise value. She is strong in budgets, cash forecasts, financial operations, and taxation. Jodi is a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor, helping thousands of business owners set up and customize their accounting systems. Her approach with her clients is described as "comfortable sophistication" meaning she can take complex issues and explain them easily to clients. Jodi earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the U of I and her Masters of Taxation, summa cum laude, from BSU. She serves on nonprofit boards and is active in professional and civic organizations. She is an avid tennis planner and runner, competing in marathons.
